Veterans Day - 11 November 2009

As an Air Force veteran, I hope every one of my readers will take the time
on Veterans Day, the 11th of November 2009, to honor the 24.9 million
military veterans who have fought in defense of the United States.
President Woodrow Wilson in 1919 declared the holiday
formerly observed in the United States as Armistice Day
in commemoration of the signing of the Armistice ending
World War I. November 11th officially became Veterans'
Day on May 24, 1954, by the act of Congress.
Our country owes much to the many brave men and women that have sacrificed much to protect our liberties and rights we all hold so dear. Even among our own friends and family we have several veterans and military persons close to us. So, on this special occasion we thank our Veterans and their families and hopefully, you will have the opportunity this week to reach out and thank our Veterans and troops!
In observation of the holiday, there will be events going on at the No. Nevada Veterans cemetery in Fernley, NV., plus parades in the Reno/Sparks, NV areas, as well as toasts at the local VFW and American Legion Posts...
Salute!!!
